Abdel has more than 14 years’ of experience leading advocacy work and organisational reforms in partnership with governmental, civil society in UK and most of the world regions including; Asia, the Middle East and Europe. He has run successful campaigns advocating for social justice and advancing the right to healthcare and disability benefits including access to affordable treatments, inclusive policies, and tax reforms in countries where it can be challenging to do advocacy.

Abdel says : “Since I moved to Basingstoke and made it our family home, I have seen a great, passionate, and supportive community that genuinely care for one another. I feel privileged to be part of this fantastic community and very pleased to know that my two daughters will be growing in a caring and loving environment. Nevertheless, I am very concerned and upset seeing fellow residents of Basingstoke facing so many barriers that impact the quality of their lives. I have listened to and witnessed some of the difficult challenges residents of Basingstoke have experienced. To list a few:

• Daily pressure due to public transport failings.
• Elderly residents after many years of serving the country not being able to feel safe or know that they will get timely medical diagnosis and treatment.
• Granting building permissions that are not twinned with improving the infrastructure to accommodate the increasing number of new residents.
• Concerns that Basingstoke is no longer safe and people are worried about their safety.

I am very keen to play my role to help improve the quality of life for  Basingstoke residents. I am ready to put my 14 years of skills and expertise in lobbying, communication and institutional reforms to use for the benefit of the community by being elected as a Labour council.”
