David Lawrence
Parlimentary Candidate

David Lawrence is Labour’s parliamentary candidate in Basingstoke for the next General Election.
David lived in Basingstoke as a child. His mother arrived here from China and got a job teaching at BCOT, and his father taught at Queen Mary’s College. Both were active members of Basingstoke Community Church.
David’s faith and belief in serving his community has driven him to campaign on issues related to personal debt and supporting small businesses. He trained as a community organiser, has worked in the charity sector and applied his economics expertise to working in one of the world’s most prestigious policy institutes. David has a track record of seeking change in Westminster for ordinary people in communities across the UK, but he is also grounded in Basingstoke’s community.
David believes that Basingstoke is an amazing town with enormous potential, but it has been let down by 13 years of Conservative chaos. With the right investment, vision and a dedicated local MP, the town could be a thriving, prosperous and vibrant place for everyone.
Between now and the election, David will be out on the doorstep meeting people in Basingstoke and hearing their concerns. Fundamentally, the first job of an MP is to represent their constituents in Parliament. We believe David is the right person to give our town a fresh start!
