The two photos above perfectly illustrate the dangers of crossing the road near ASDA at Sullivan Road crossing. The Handel Close bus stop serves Gillies Health Centre, Asda and the Brighton Hill Parade shops.

Passengers get off the bus and cross to get to their GP or to the shops. In the bottom picture, the bus is stationery and a car is overtaking it, on the wrong side of the road. Ahead there’s a blind bend.

Pedestrians think that the raised speed bump is a pedestrian crossing, and use it to cross the road. A pedestrian crossing wouldn’t expect to see an overtaking car as their view is shielded by the bus. It’s an accident waiting to happen.
